The 14th Annual Cottage & Garden Tour

Oregon’s most popular coastal home tour – September 8 – 10, 2017

Attention history hounds, architecture enthusiasts, and the coastally curious: it’s almost time to put on your walking shoes to take a tour through Cannon Beach’s unique homes and cottages. Cannon Beach is a small town in Oregon perched at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The town has been featured in National Geographic’s “The World’s Most Beautiful Places.” It was selected as one of the 100 essential spots for travelers to visit.

Each year, the Cannon Beach History Center and Museum opens the doors to dream homes, vintage cottages, and beach getaways as part of its annual fundraiser – The Cottage & Garden Tour. Sunset Magazine calls the Tour the “best autumn event” in Cannon Beach.

Not many home tours take place along one of Oregon’s most beautiful sandy shores. This must-see event will take place the weekend of September 8 – 10, 2017. The weekend of events includes live music, local art, speaking events, wine tasting, and a tour of some of the most beautiful homes and gardens of Cannon Beach.

The 2017 tour will focus on the unique craftsmanship and architecture of northern Cannon Beach. For those who have attended the tour in previous years, you know that you will see much more than architectural design. You will get a chance to see the work of closet artists, private collectors, and some of the best beach designs. Over the years, homes featured on the tour have received acclaim in Oregon Home Magazine, Sunset Magazine, and even the Home and Garden section of The Oregonian.

What sets the Cannon Beach Cottage & Garden Tour apart from other home tour events?

“The Cottage and Garden Tour focuses on history and the artisanal quality of craftsmanship, architecture and artwork for our small-town,” explains Cannon Beach History Center and Museum Executive Director, Elaine Trucke.

In the beginning, the tour welcomed at most sixty people. It wasn’t until a few years ago when the City of Cannon Beach’s Tourism and Arts Commission awarded the Museum funding to promote the fun event that the numbers started to reach several hundred. This event tends to sell out, so be ready to purchase tickets when they become available on July 1.

The proceeds of this event allows the Cannon Beach History Center and Museum to continue operating as a donation-based museum. It also allows the Museum to continue offering a free lecture series and field trip program, as well as a seasonal acoustic series. Tickets are available at the Museum, over the phone (503-436-9301), or through the online gift shop.
