Liz Scott, Executive Director

Hi there! I’m Liz Scott, and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum since 2011. I first got involved as a volunteer (just wanting to help out and learn more), and two years later, I officially joined the team. While I don’t have a formal degree, I’ve learned so much through hands-on experience, trainings, and a genuine love for local history.
I’ve always believed that museums are more than just places that hold old things, they’re vital parts of our cultural identity. They help us understand where we came from, spark curiosity, and bring people together. That’s why I’m passionate about making our museum as community-oriented as possible. I want it to be a welcoming space where folks can connect, learn, and feel at home.
Cannon Beach has such a rich and fascinating story, and I’m honored to help share it, whether you’re visiting for the first time or have lived here your whole life. As Executive Director, I’m focused on keeping the museum vibrant and evolving by creating new exhibits, offering fun and meaningful programs, and building strong relationships with our community.
One of my favorite pieces of advice? Get involved in your community and volunteer! You never know where it might take you, it might even turn into a job you love, just like it did for me.
