Kelli Daffron, a Project Manger at the North Coast Watershed Association since 2020, will share a brief history of how the Ecola Creek Forest Reserve came to be and its history as a working forest prior to being acquired by the City of Cannon Beach. We’ll share an introduction to the ECFR Stewardship Plan and how the NCWA worked with our partners to install 17 Large Wood structures in the Reserve in 2014. The presentation will also highlight monitoring data from within the Ecola Creek watershed, including temperature data going back to the early 2000s thanks to some dedicated locals, as well as recent snorkel survey data detailing where juvenile coho salmon are in the watershed. All of this will be tied together to underscore the continued need for stewardship, and the NCWA’s current efforts to conduct beaver habitat restoration in the Reserve and how folks can help create habitat right in their own backyards!
This event is free, but donations to the host organizations are deeply appreciated.
This event is presented and hosted by the North Coast Watershed Association and will take place on Monday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum (1387 S. Spruce St. in Cannon Beach, Oregon).
