The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, in partnership with the Cannon Beach Fire Department, invites the public to attend Great Fires in History: The Great Astoria Fire of 1922 on Friday, March 13 at 4:00 p.m., presented by Fire Marshal John Jerome of the Cannon Beach Fire District.
The lecture will explore the devastating 1922 fire that burned for 30 hours and transformed Astoria’s landscape, economy, and architectural character. Attendees will learn how the fire began, how it spread, and how the community rebuilt in its aftermath.
In addition to examining the historic event, Fire Marshal Jerome will incorporate modern fire prevention strategies into the presentation, connecting lessons from the past to present-day safety practices and preparedness.
The lecture is free and open to the public, though seating is limited. The event will be held at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, 1387 South Spruce Street in Cannon Beach.
