The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum is thrilled to welcome Jerry Bowman, Curator of the Northwest Carriage Museum, for a special lecture on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Bowman is known nationwide for his entertaining and informative presentations on the history, restoration, and conservation of 19th-century horse-drawn vehicles. With over two decades of hands-on experience, Bowman has restored more than two dozen buggies, sleighs, wagons, and carriages. His deep knowledge, engaging storytelling, and quick sense of humor make his talks both educational and fun.
During this lively presentation, guests will learn about the evolution of horse-drawn vehicles and hear fascinating behind-the-scenes stories from the world-class collection at the Northwest Carriage Museum. Through photos and videos, Bowman brings to life the craftsmanship and character of these remarkable vehicles, and the colorful history of the people who once used them.
“The Northwest Carriage Museum is near and dear to my heart, it’s truly one of my favorite museums and one that I visit often,” said Liz Scott, Executive Director of the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum. “It’s such a joy to have Jerry come and share his incredible knowledge and passion for these beautiful carriages with our community.”
This engaging presentation is part of the museum’s ongoing John Williams Lecture Series, which highlights diverse voices and stories connected to local and regional history.
The lecture begins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, at the Cannon Beach History Center & Museum, located at 1387 South Spruce St. Admission is by donation, with all proceeds supporting the museum’s mission to preserve and share local history.
