The 9th Annual Cottage Tour

The Cannon Beach History Center & Museum is looking forward to its upcoming annual fundraiser, the 9th Annual Cottage Tour.  The tour, to be held Saturday and Sunday the 8th & 9th of September, will be returning to the Presidential streets of Cannon Beach.

Tour goers will delight in getaway beach homes, historic cottages, and coastal gardens.   The 2012 Cottage Tour will offer tour participants an opportunity to see the unique architecture and craftsmanship that sets life on the coast apart.

The tour of homes will begin on Saturday, the 8th, at noon with a luncheon, catered by Culinary Capers of Seaside, and a lecture by Michael Gibbons at the Tolovana Inn.   Gibbons is a well-known Oregon artist that has exhibited pieces at the Portland Art Museum, with the American Artists Professional League, and the Allied Artists of America.  Gibbons is also a history buff with family ties to Cannon Beach, learn more at the lecture!  The luncheon will end at 1 p.m. to be followed by the tour of homes until 4 p.m.

A wine reception and raffle will close the Saturday events at 4:30 p.m.  Tour goers will enjoy wine, light hors d’oeuvres and the dulcet tones of local musician Kelsey Mousley.  A musician some have called, “the next Diana Krall.”

On Sunday, the 9th, the Garden Tour will kick-off with a reception at 11 a.m., to be held at the History Center.  Light breakfast fare, coffee from Sleepy Monk, will be available.  Art created by local artists the Palette Puddler’s will be on display at this time.  The tour of gardens will continue until 2 p.m., weather permitting.

Tour tickets are $25, this cost includes: Both the garden and home tours, the wine reception, as well as the garden reception on Sunday.  Luncheon tickets should be purchased separately, at a cost of $15. Seating for the luncheon is limited, and tickets must be purchased no later than September 3rd.   Tour packages are available for $40.  Cannon Beach History Center & Museum members will received a discount.

Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour, on our website, or by phone at 503.436.9301.  Our hours are from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
